I respect all the people I have met through poetry and I am very thankful for being able to communicate with such wonderful people.
Talking with Mr. Cid Corman(June 29, 1923- March 12, 2004) was one my most treasurable moment. He is an american poet who married to a Japanese women Shizumi and lived in Kyoto till he passed away in 2004. International marriage was difficult during their time, but they supported each other and grew their love. Even after his death Shizumi still writes to him everyday and sends him her love.
I first read his poetry in 2001. I was in a poetry class at the UCLA extention and My teacher Mrs. Catherine Daly recommended me his poetry to me. I still remember my first impression how it inspired me. I instantly ran to the library and borrowed all his books. After returning to Japan I searched for his contact information and found his e-mail address and send him a message. I recieved a letter from him in just few weeks. The time was not long enough before his next departure, but all the message he send to me lives in my heart forever. Sizumi inherited me her memorable gifts from Cid and shares with me their beautiful love story.
Poetry is life and life is poetry.

今まで詩を通じてお会い出来た全ての方を尊敬し、素晴らしい方々とコミュニケーションをさせて頂き感謝をしています。
私の中でCid Corman(June 29, 1923- March 12, 2004)さんとお話させて頂いた事は大変貴重なものでした。彼はアメリカ人の詩人で、日本人女性のしずみさんとご結婚をなさり, 2004年にお亡くなりになるまで京都に暮らしていました。当初、国際結婚は難しかったのですが、お二人はお互いを支え合いより深い愛を育みました。そして、しずみさんは今も毎日Cidへの手紙を書き、愛を送り続けています。
私が初めて彼の詩を読んだのは、2001年でした。カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス付属校で詩のクラスを 受講していた際に、Catherine Daly先生が私にCidの詩を推薦してくださいました。その時の感動を今でもはっきり覚 えています。その後、直ぐ図書館へ駆けつけ、Cidの置いてある全ての詩集を借りました。 日本に帰国をしてから連絡先を探し、メールアドレスを見付ける事が出来たので、お便りを書きました。そして、僅か数週間でご本人からお手紙を頂きました。Cidさんの新たな出発までそんなに時間はありませんでしたが、私に送ってくださったメッセージは永遠に心の中で生き続けます。しずみさんからは、Cidからの思い出の詰まったプレゼントを頂戴し、お二人の美しい愛の物語を聞かせて頂いてます。
詩は人生であり、人生は詩である。
